MITIS Students Shine in Francophonie Day

     The French Embassy together with the Alliance Francaise de Manille (AFM) organized the celebration of Le jour de Francophonie (Francophonie Day) on March 13, 2010 at the University of dad de Santo Tomas (UST) in Manila. The 17 groups which participated came from top universities and international schools, namely the University of Santo Tomas (UST), University of the Philippines (UP), De La Salle- St Benilde, the International School Manila (ISM), and MIT International School (MITIS).  
     The MITIS students were a big hit and very much appreciated they were given a special award by the judges, each student receiving a nice red bag with a small present inside.  They sang "Je suis un artiste (I am an artist)", a French song for children by Matt Maxwell, arranged by MITIS Music teacher Dave Saraza, and choreographed by Ms. Anke Moersheim, a former ballet dancer.  Apart from performing well, they also participated (against the university students) in the quizzes where they received most of the prizes. 
     The talented students were: Franco Reboredo (Gr 6), Andre Barbarona (Gr 6),  Roderick Aguto,  Baek Young Gi (Alex),   Park Joo Hyun (Robin), Sean Sebastian Yco, Angel Dannah Cardoza, Kwon Ji Soo (Amy), Lee Soo Min (Janette), Park Su Jin (Sandy) and Joshiah Kryz Suansing. They were accompanied and coached by their French teacher, Ms. Leah Buhain. On hand to give encouragement to the students were parents Mrs. Susan Barbarona and Mr. and Mrs. Suansing. 
      The students were later requested by MITIS President and Principal, Dr. Bienvenido V. Santos, to perform their piece during the students’ general assembly on March 15, 2010.  In their behalf, Ms. Leah Buhain offered the students’ Prancophonie success to the School Director, Mr. Hyock Chu Kwon.
